At Future Work Design, we love conflict.

Though it may sound ominous and intimidating, we deeply believe that confronting conflict is one of the most important and underrated skills of any high-performing organization. This is what inspired us to build a series of short videos to help you practice conflict as a team.

Through this video series, learn to be strategic about when and how to intervene in team performance, and start putting to practice a simple 5-step process to get better at facing conflict head-on. (Spoiler alert! It’s not always about interpersonal conflict, even when it feels like it.)

#1 | Pinch Crunch

Conflict is one of the most important, and underrated skills of any collaborative team. If you think you don’t like conflict, it’s probably because you’ve experienced conflict as a “crunch” instead of a series of manageable “pinches.” Learning how to lean into conflict early and often is one of the best ways to collaborate across difference effectively. We made this video to help you pitch a new way of thinking about conflict to your team.

#2 | Wheel of Mindfulness

So you’re ready to get better at conflict? In this short video we’ll share a simple five step framework to help you uplevel your conflict skills and comfort. Follow this script and you can make it through those tough conversations feeling comfortable, direct, and not like an jerk.

#3 | Waterline

The third and final video in the “We Love Conflict” series is for advanced users looking for guidance on intervening in a team. Despite our advice that interpersonal conflict is a very important skill, it is not always the place to begin when looking to improve dynamics or performance of a team. Paradoxical but true. Check out the video for more.
